Arrrrr!!! It’s THAT Day Again!

Half way through the week and speeding along to the weekend. Sadly, the guitar playing guy wasn’t standing on the road yesterday morning. I was hoping he would be – seeing him there singing and playing his guitar kept me smiling all day. Oh well, he must have had other places to be besides on a country road by himself. I do have one great reason to smile though – a dear friend of mine announced that her new baby granddaughter joined the world a little early and arrived healthy and beautiful yesterday.  I am SO happy for her!  Babies are such an amazing blessing. Congratulations EE, to you and your entire family!

Verse of the Day

September 19, 2018

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Ephesians 4:29

Thoughts on the Verse of the Day

The goal in Christian communication is not just clarity. The goal is not just to be understood. The goal is not just to be truthful. The goal is to be appropriate, encouraging, and building up others based on what the needs of the other person are.

Food for Thought

If every single person were to be held accountable for something they have been rumored to do when they were in high school, none of us would ever accomplish anything in life.  If every single person who is willing to lie and sell their soul for the corrupt democrats were to be believed, we wouldn’t have a country left to run. Think back to YOUR days in high school. Were you perfect? Are you now? Yeah, I thought not. When I was in high school I went out on a few dates with a boy who was a little older than me. I wouldn’t go to bed with him. He told everyone a whole bunch of lies about me, pretty much saying I was a sleaze that he found with multiple football players at the same time, just to make himself look better after I’d rejected his attempts to get me to do something I wasn’t ready or willing to do. It really hurt me, hurt my reputation and caused a lot of gossip that I didn’t earn or deserve. The difference between me and some other people is that this truly did happen to me, and I don’t need to destroy someone’s life 38 years after the fact just to draw attention to myself or be someone’s means to an end. If this chick who is targeting Kavanaugh were for real, she would have said something all those years ago. This is obviously a set-up intended to destroy his life and chances at being a Supreme Court Judge. Don’t fall for it. This man is good for our nation, for our Constitution and the continuation of our freedoms.

Talk Like a Pirate Day – This is a day just for fun and to let the pirate in each of us out to play.  Sometimes a day just for fun is exactly what we need.  Silly releases stress so let some of that go today by talking like a pirate!  So, where did this silly day start?  Well, John Baur and Mark Summers created the concept of International Talk Like A Pirate Day on June 6, 1995.  They were playing racquetball and began to talk to each other in “pirate-speak”.  After leaving the court they decided that this sort of day was just what everyone needed, so after much thought, Mark Summers picked September 19th as the date, since it was his wife’s birthday.  (I have to wonder how SHE feels about sharing her day with pirate talking silly folks!)  And that’s how this day was born!  Arrrr!!!!

Food Celebration of the Day

National Butterscotch Pudding Day Butterscotch pudding may not be as popular as vanilla or chocolate, but it certain is good.  If you like butterscotch, then maybe the thought already has your mouth watering!  Like all food related special days, it is easy to participate and gives us good reason to enjoy a tasty dessert. A funny story about Butterscotch pudding . . . years ago when my daughter was about 14 or so, she reached into the cupboard to make some vanilla pudding for her little brother, but when she opened the package, the contents didn’t match the box and she’d gotten butterscotch instead of vanilla.  Neither of my kids were overly enthusiastic about butterscotch, so she decided to let the company know how unhappy she was with the problem of the mismatched package, thinking maybe they’d send a couple of coupons for free pudding.  That is not what she received though! She got $100!  Yep, they sent her a check for $100 and a whole handful of free coupons.  Wow!  I never want to endorse complaining for the sake of complaining, but this company took care of the problem and kept a loyal customer.

Let’s all have a fantastic Wednesday, enjoy it for what it is, make someone smile and stop taking ourselves so seriously. Have a great day! God bless you and I’ll see you on Thursday.
