This weekend went by far too quickly! I am spoiled, I admit it. I usually have Fridays off, so I have 3-day weekends. The past 2 Fridays I worked to make up for the snow days, and I’ll be doing the same thing this week. Yes, you can hear a whine in my voice – I do quite a bit of my cleaning chores on Fridays, and we were busy this weekend celebrating our anniversary, so there’s a bunch of stuff stacked up to do. It was worth it, being able to spend time with my wonderful Hubby, but I truly do feel like the weekend just whipped by too quickly.
Verse of the Day
February 25, 2019
Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.
Thoughts on the Verse of the Day
Songs can stir us up or they can bring us comfort. Songs can take us back to a special time, or songs can give us hope for things to come. Unfortunately, we usually leave the words and the music of our songs only for someone else to write, never taking time to write our own “new song.” But today, why not make up your own new song of praise and thanks to God. It doesn’t have to be great, just heartfelt and offered to the Father from whom all joyful songs come.

Food for Thought
I heard on the news that the PNW is predicted to have an extra hot and dry summer, which will undoubtedly lead to fire hazards. Maybe we ALL need to start praying for more snow, to help with the extra water run off from the mountains to keep everything wet longer. The whining and gnashing of teeth on Friday when some flakes fell for about an hour was incredible. We NEED this water, we NEED everything to be saturated. I, for one, would NOT be disappointed to see more snow.
Museum Advocacy Day – Museums are wonderful places, keeping history and art alive for generations to come. They have to be funded from somewhere, and though private citizens do donate, and they do have fund raisers, the truth is that many of them obtain much of their funding from federal sources, so this is the day that museums and their supporters speak up and talk to their elected officials about what they need to keep their doors open.
Pistol Patent Day – Well, hm, this one could be a difficult one to celebrate . . . unless you have a new design for a pistol that you need to get a patent for today! Not that I wouldn’t LOVE to have the knowledge to come up with something awesome, but I don’t. And since most of us won’t, we can just appreciate that this is the day Samuel Colt patented his six-shot revolver in 1836. “God made man, Samuel Colt made them equal.” This is believed to be one of the original advertising quotes from Colt Manufacturing. (Thanks Hubby!) I like it!
This Day in History –
1836 – Samuel Colt patents the revolver.
Food Celebration of the Day –
Clam Chowder Day – We just had this celebration not that long ago, and here it is again! I guess those in the food world LOVE Clam Chowder enough to have it again so soon! As I posted last time, this one is fairly easy to make low-carb by simply replacing the potato with a combination of Rutabaga, Turnips and Celeriac Root! Yum!
National Chocolate Covered Nuts Day – Whether you’re a Snickers fan or prefer the old-fashioned candy store clusters, there are recipes here to satisfy a craving for chocolate peanut yumminess.
Cherry-Banana Snickers Bar Salad
Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Bars
Chocolate-Peanut Butter Truffles
The last thing I want to do right now is go to work, but it’s Monday, and if I don’t go, I’ll just have more days to make up so I get my paycheck, which – of course – I want at the end of the week. (sigh) Fine, I’ll go. Have a wonderful day, let’s get through this Monday together! God bless you and I’ll see you tomorrow.
