I wanted to say a belated Happy New Year! The holidays landing mid-week this year really made the schedule strange. I didn’t take any additional time off for either Christmas or New Year – other team mates at work had the time off with their children and grandchildren, and since we weren’t able to see either of the kids and their families this year, I didn’t fuss about it. Those of us who worked this holiday season have 1st option to take the days off next year, so hopefully the schedules will align so we can see family! Hope springs eternal, doesn’t it?
Not much on the agenda right now. We have snow drifts up against the house and shops up to 6 feet deep (where it’s slipped off of the sloped roof) , and to put it into perspective, we have 2 steps up onto our porch, and we are stepping UP onto the snow, to get off of the porch. We’ve been dumped on quite a bit over the last month. We always get snow, but this is more than usual. I love it, and am not complaining. All the moisture now helps later during the heat and fire season.
What is happening in the 2025 future? Well, we have some plans. Hubby purchased a 10-foot U-Haul style truck, and is converting it into a little motor home. We have the big motor home, but now that we do not live in the same state with either set of kids/grand kids, we want a slightly more economical way to travel to see them without needing to spend the ridiculous fuel mileage that the big motor home takes or staying in hotels and eating out in restaurants. He’s been doing a great design on it, and once it’s done, I’ll share pictures. I’m pretty excited. If all goes well, we will be able to have Starlink, and I can work on the road, which will keep from eating all of my vacation time up while traveling, so I can save it for visiting and sightseeing. So many times the trip to anywhere is done in a big hurry so that we can fit it all in on vacation time, but with this, we will be able to take our time, stop at places along the way. I will work while he fishes, and I can fish after the work is done. There are so many places in our own country that we haven’t visited because of the work restrictions, that this will open up possibilities that we haven’t weren’t possible before. I wish I could tell you we have something already planned, but the snow has been so heavy that he hasn’t been able to even get INTO the truck to work on it, much less work on things that are needed on the outside. Once the snow begins to melt, he has everything in place to get moving on the projects.
While he gets that done, I am planning for different places to visit, different meals to do while camping, etc. It’s relaxing to just think through all of the options that are open to our adventuring minds, and knowing we can start exploring while we are still young enough to do it.
