Happy two days before Thanksgiving. If you haven’t done the shopping for your meal, be careful when you do! Seriously! I went to pick up a few things last night that I didn’t want to get last week – the fresh herbs and vegetables – and the store was CRAZY! The large number of people walking circles around the turkeys in the meat department alone was a traffic jam that nobody could get through. I got out of there with an attitude and in a bad mood. I cannot even imagine how bad it is going to be tomorrow or Wednesday. If you are braving the crowds, take a deep breath, then go home and have a glass of wine.
Verse of the Day
November 20, 2018
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
Thoughts on the Verse of the Day
Joy knows no better explanation than laughter and song. We sing to the Lord because we are joyful! Our music is not inhibited or held back, but exuberant and as full of sound as it is of heart. Thanksgiving brings us into the Father’s presence and it is our joy at being saved that leads us to sing.
I Am Very Thankful For . . .
For anyone who has had a dog in their life, you know how special these creatures are, and how much love they have to give. My Tibbi Girl was such a huge part of my life for so many years, and not a day goes by that I don’t miss her terribly. We have our Moose though – and he is such a happy, bouncy dog. He is enormous, has the heart of a puppy, and is so filled with love. He is always happy to see us when we come home, greeting us like we are his entire world, which of course we are. He is never happier than when we is under our feet, in our faces, snuggling up to us, sharing his toys or conning us out of treats. No matter what else is going wrong in our lives, the love of this dog always makes me smile, and warms my heart. Today I am thankful for the furry creatures God created to make our lives complete.
Absurdity Day – Today is totally absurd! Seriously! That’s what it is . . . Absurdity Day! Crazy, right? Some days are illogical and seem to be senseless, which is definitely the definition of Absurd. Today is to be celebrated in an absurd manner, which means not sitting back and waiting for something to happen, but to seek out things that are somewhat, if not completely illogical. Have fun, but don’t try to make any sense of it! If you could see my to-do list, you would say – THAT’S ABSURD! So, without even meaning to I set the tone for this celebration . . . and will attempt to get through my list and make a complete success of the absurdity of the day.
Beautiful Day – Our world, especially lately it seems, is so filled with ugliness. People just aren’t nice to each other anymore. From horrible things like the hatred and violence towards law enforcement starting to become common, to home invasions, people stealing at the first opportunity, bullying . . . the list goes on. We forget that the world is a beautiful place, filled with beautiful sights, sounds and aromas! I couldn’t find the creator of this day, but I’d like to think that it was set up to remind us to look past the surface ugliness around us and appreciate what God gave us – this beautiful, amazing world.
This Day in History –
1959 – Ford quit making the unpopular Edsel.
Food Celebration of the Day –
National Peanut Butter Fudge Day – I love making fudge, and seriously, mixing in peanut butter to this lovely treat, could it get much better than that? For all its intense richness, fudge is surprisingly easy to make. And it only gets better with peanut butter added to the mix. With all of the sugary treats that will be enjoyed over the next few weeks, keep in mind that there are no sugar/low-carb alternatives that you can enjoy too! I got a bit off track during the later part of the year for posting low-carb foods – time sometimes gets away from me – but I’ll leave you with this today. Carolyn Ketchum’s Low Carb Peanut Butter Fudge from her blog www.alldayidreamaboutfood.com. This is her picture from her blog post, and her delicious recipe. Give it a try! You may find that you like it even better than the sugared alternatives!
I cut out the boring celebrations because seriously, who has time for t hat with so many things to do??? I know I don’t! Tonight, some of the baking begins, with the rest to be done tomorrow so Thanksgiving morning is all about the meal itself. There is a lot to do, but I truly do love doing it. May your preparations be fun! God bless you and I’ll see you tomorrow.
