I’m gnashing my teeth in frustration right now. We know that the Republicans retained the Senate, but the predictions are that the Dems will take the House. This upsets me or course, because I as hoping for a Red Wave. What really, REALLY makes me angry is that the news was calling the races on the West Coast, literally 5 minutes after our polls closed, with 0% counted. Seriously??? Washington is a mail in state, so people would have been dropping their ballots into the mail as late as this afternoon, or putting them into the drop boxes up until 8 p.m. Those ballots have to be picked up, received and counted. By calling the races when the polls close, it effectively renders all of our voices as unimportant. This isn’t right in any way. I know that there is a certain amount of time for the votes to actually be counted for the end results to be calculated, so I hope that our votes all count, no matter which direction it goes.
Verse of the Day
November 7, 2018
I urge, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
Thoughts on the Verse of the Day
God wants us to be a praying people. But more than that, God wants us to pray for people. The blessing of that kind of prayerful life is that we get to live peaceful and quiet lives full of godliness and holiness. So, pray, dear friend in Jesus, pray as if world peace depends upon it, because it does!
I Am Thankful For . . .
I have been very blessed over the years with wonderful pets. Dogs and cats, mice, guinea pigs, rats, gerbils and even a chinchilla have been residents under my roof at one time or another for many, many years. My best fur buddies have obviously been the cats and dogs, since it’s honestly not that easy to bond with rodents, no matter how sweet they can be. As I write this, I have 120 pounds of furry best friend sleeping next to me, occasionally reaching out to thump a paw onto my leg, tolling for snuggles. He is sweet, loving, loyal and though sometimes he is goofy, he is ALWAYS loving. When I am sad, he comforts me, when I am angry, he somehow makes me laugh. My dog Tibbi was the same way, in our lives for nearly 18 years. I cannot tell you how much I miss her. Be thankful for the sweet creatures we have as part of our families. They love us as people can’t, because they only see how much they love us without seeing our faults – unless we are mean to them. Even then they would be loyal. But don’t be mean – they don’t deserve it.
I think I’m going to take a bit of a break today, since the celebrations today are truly not that impressive, and I’m sure we are all tired from watching the election returns last night. Have a wonderful day just enjoying being alive, and happy that we are mid-way through the week. God bless you and I’ll see you tomorrow.
